Brilliantly Birmingham Goes Continental (part two)

You’ve got one last chance to check out a fantastic, and unprecedented, collaboration between designer makers from Birmingham and those from Barcelona in Spain. It closes at the School of Jewellery on Friday 18th.
Eight staff from Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery have joined forces with eight from the Escola Massa’s school of jewellery in a kind of adult foreign exchange.
It’s called Paradigma to reflect the exhibition’s aim – identifying and sharing cultural paradigms and presenting diversity of ideas, technology, form and function at both institutions.
The results are, of course, stunning and are showcased in an exhibition at the School of Jewellery on Vittoria Street in the heart of the quarter. It’s also been showcased in Barcelona, but with all those aeroplane taxes, it might end up being an expensive journey!
It’s another reminder, anyway, that Brilliantly Birmingham has forged an international presence over the past decade, and is a genuine beacon of artistic merit in our great city.
Barcelona may have the Ramblas, Gaudi and the weather. But our very own Jewellery Quarter’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, remember! It’s something to be immensely proud of.
